Fictional completed buyer example. The review declaration below illustrates a buyer's completed record; no actual buyer review or organisational approval is claimed.
Purpose
Write a task brief that separates confirmed requirements from decisions that still need agreement.
Scenario
New starters cannot open links in an onboarding guide. Coordinator Alex has been asked to help. The accountable owner and due date have not been agreed. [S5]
Your task
Suggested facilitation: 10 minutes, in pairs or individually. This timing is a design choice.
Before writing, identify the two unconfirmed decisions in the scenario. Then write a brief covering the intended result, acceptance criteria, owner and due date. Mark anything unconfirmed. Write the question you would ask before anyone commits. Then explain the next action in your own words. [S1]–[S3]
Reference response
Result: onboarding guide links work with new-starter access.
Acceptance check: try the links using an approved new-starter test account. No real login is needed in this exercise. [S5]
Owner: unconfirmed. Ask Alex whether they can own the task; agree the responsible person before recording a commitment. [S3], [S5]
Due date: unconfirmed. Agree it with the responsible person; include the time zone if relevant. No Friday deadline is supplied. [S3]–[S5]
Understanding check: ask the recipient to explain the result, next action and any requirement or capacity concern before committing. [S2]
Feedback and debrief
Check all four brief fields. Has the learner retained the known result and acceptance check, kept the unknown owner and date visible, and asked for agreement? An invented owner or deadline needs repair. Ask: What can you confirm now, and what still needs discussion?
In-work job aid
Result → Acceptance check → Agreed owner → Agreed due date → Recipient explains the next action.
If something is unknown, mark it unconfirmed and agree who will clarify it. Use only permitted material when applying this in actual work. [S1]–[S4], [S6]
